Just a note for my LJ homies--if you want to get in on the music I recorded last semester, check out this sweetness. Also, I'm still rocking a blog over here. Know that I still stalk you all. Daily.

Well, after a long and satisfying stint with livejournal, I've decided to move on. For some bizarre reason I really like blogger and I think I'm going to go that route: I've now started The Cosmic Mixtape, which I will be updating along with occasional continuing nods to The Tropicana Experience. In any case, I'll certainly update more than I have the past few months on livejournal. I will still, of course, read everybody else's livejournal on a daily basis, stalking as usual. Anyway, I hope you come and visit me--seriously, it will take like one extra click. Any last thoughts before the move would be welcomed. Adios, amigos.

I wonder if there's any mathematical equation that can explain why I do/do not update this thing at any given time. If I do, I'll update like three billion times a day and if I don't, I won't update for a month(s). Anyway, I guess now is as good a time as any.

My life is nice but boring right now. I'm taking a class (Advanced Studies in the Gospel of John) that starts Monday. I may or may not try and find a job to complement this--because of the class and the fact that I'm leaving for the east coast come early September, my chances of being hired anywhere are pretty slim. Plus, I'm

L-A-Z-Y!

It will be hard, though, because I want to buy a lot of comic books. Comic books are

A-W-E-S-O-M-E!

but cost money I need te be frugal with. Most of my friends moved away for the summer, so I'm spending most of my time reading, playing guitar, writing poetry, and doing my laundry. One of those is a lie--I'll let you guess which one.

The beach/wedding/general-virginia-ness was amazing, if highly abbreviated. While it was definitely strange seeing one of my oldest friends get married, it was a very nice ceremony and I think the couple will kick lots of ass together.

My mom just called me and told me to meet her at the mall, so I'll update more later. Rock and roll.

I'm growing a beard. I'm writing songs about murder. I check my e-mail four billion times a day. That's right--it's finals week!

I can't wait to get out of this place.
I close my eyes and I can smell Martha's Vineyard.
Not really, because I have no idea what Martha's vineyard smells like.
I can imagine, though.
It probably smells like fish.
Which is okay, because fish live in the sea.
Which I like.
"There is sea right next to you, Andrew!"
Shut up, it's different.
Fewer bikinis in Martha's Vineyard, probably, but fewer bad things, too.
I think.
Hmm.
On a cheerier note, I have been updating The Apartment a few times a week.
It is fun and not a drag.
You should check it out if you are bored.
This post is a drag because right now I feel like a drag.
I should go swimming in our pool.
It is warm enough, I think.

I have had a particularly stimulating week/end, especially when it comes to music. Last Saturday I went and saw Starflyer 59 at the Glass House, which was amazing...they only had two guitars and a drumkit, and a ghetto little backing track thing, but they sounded incredibly full and it was great. They played "Play the C Chord" and "No New Kinda Story", even though that album came out forever ago--I was pleasantly surprised. In addition they had a surprise band open for them... and it was Joy Electric! It was Martin and two other guys, all of whom were PLAYING KEYTARS. Simply transcendent. Unfortunately, even though the Martin Bros. were on the same bill there was no Dance House Children stuff.

Also, a random sociology professor was liquidating his CD collection for only A DOLLAR A DISC. So I promptly went and bought TWENTY DISCS. I bought albums from Beachwood Sparks, Tom Petty (2), B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf, Jayhawks (4), Bob Dylan, Blind Boys of Alabama, Miles Davis, Jesse Harris & the Ferdinandos, Warren Zevon, Son Volt, Cowboy Junkies, Lucinda Williams, Dick Dale, Kings of Leon, and a recording of Faure's Requiem (nostalgia!). So I am swimming in amazing blues, pop, gospel, americana, country-rock, folk, and jazz. And surf guitar. I am the winner.

This is probably the funniest webcomic... ever. Just try not to read them all in one sitting.

Perry Bible Fellowship

Read it and love it.

My roommates and I are starting a new blog, which can be found here. I will still update this journal with this stuff I normally post (ambiguous statements, ridiculous lists, confessions of love, post-adolescent ennui, etc.), but this new one is focused more on the day-to-day stuff and should be lots of fun.

I will be spending next semester in Martha's Vineyard rockin' out at the Contemporary Music Center. Kickass!

Sometimes I feel like I got nothing to say...

then I realized I forgot about Dre.

So that explains it, I guess.

Luckily, I have enough stuff on here to not have to list the really embarrasing bands. Why do I try to serve you, indie-cred? I will never have enough.

1) Total volume of music files on my computer:
17.13 GB, 4462 songs

2) The last CD I bought was:
Stars "Set Yourself on Fire"

3a) The last song I listened to before writing this was:
The Pernice Brothers "Our Time Has Passed"

3b) The last thing I heard that was new to me that I thought I ought to investigate was:
The sweet, beautiful Petra Haden.

4) Five songs I listen to a lot or that mean a lot to me:

Fallout Countdown "King of Leprosy"
These guys and their songs meant the world to me when I was discovering independent music. The songs are still amazing. Thanks, Zach.

Radiohead "Talk Show Host"
Still probably the moodiest song I ever heard, I never get tired of this.

Beatles "Here, There, and Everywhere"
Greatest pop song ever? Could be.

Sense Field "No Longer Now"
I've stopped trying to dissect why I love this song so much. I can (and have) listened to this ten times in a row and just want it more.

Ryan Adams "Amy"
Beautiful, delicate, and yet strong enough to be listened to a bajillion times and not grate on me.

5) People through which I will attempt to propagate this meme:
Everybody now!

Thou shalt not cook hamburgers and leave thy grease in a pan for thy neighbor to clean out.

Thou shalt not wear thy jeans tucked into those stupid-ass boots, for it is offensive to Mine eyes.

Thou shalt not use the word 'funnest', for it is a graven insult to thy Lord.

Thou shalt not say you were 'just saying', for thou art a dickface if thou sayest that.

Thou shalt never see a movie starring Jimmy Fallon, for My wrath will be upon thee.

* When the world ends, I hope it ends on a Sunday night, because it would suck to lose a weekend to Armageddon.

* I'm crushing on some cuties right now, which is a lot of fun.

* I think you can tell how a person really is by watching them interact with their family... it's hard to dislike someone who really loves their mom, or at least tries.

You know what would spice up my life right about now? Sexual tension. All of my relationships are distressingly benign, totally functional friendships.

Animals are amazing--seriously, they are. Last night I was watching TV and they had a thing about a zoo on, and they showed some footage of giraffes. In case you need a reminder, giraffes are extremely fucking cool. Their necks are ridiculous, their lips are insanely stretchy, and they have those weird bulbous things above their ears. Despite their apparent gangliness they can still run super-fast, and they are cute as hell! This must lead someone to one of two observations: if you believe in God, you know he or she must kick ass because he or she let us live in a world where giraffes exist. If you don't believe in God, you have to think how totally fucking lucky we are to live in a world where giraffes exist. So hell yeah!

I think I'm going a little crazy...

Humans are strange. It would be nice if we would not surround ourselves with bullshit, but I guess that's just the way it works. That's our curse--we are all so capable of loving each other, but no one can ever really communicate what they want or need, and even if they did we would probably just make fun of them. I'm feeling disconnected. At least there's the list--a little sommething for everyone in there.

Read an interesting little novel called The Professor and the Madman, about the drama that helped create the Oxford English Dictionary. It was nice.
